LENTEN WEDNESDAY PONDERINGS...Day 1

"O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption."
~ Psalm 130:7

Above is a photograph of me taken by a dear friend many years ago at Dunbarton Oaks in Washington, DC. As I sat before the Lord...now...pondering what He might seek to share on this...the morning of Ash Wednesday...the verse above came fully in my mind.

As I look upon this photograph I see a woman in the beauty of her surroundings, barefoot and pure before her Lord, cherishing the lingering time in her Savior's presence. As she experiences the beauty and fragrance about her she looks up with a smile ...relaxed in the TRUTH that...

"Yes, my dear Jesus, with You there is mercy...and with You there is plenteous redemption."

As we begin this Lenten season how glorious and lovely it is to sit in the "beauty of holiness"...to drink in the TRUTH of God's word and to REST in His promises.
"We are but dust, and dust shall we return."

This is always what the priest speaks over us, as we receive the "ashes" at an Ash Wednesday service.
Though we are "dust" we are PRECIOUS to our Lord and "bought with a price".
May you, this day, bask in the Glory of your sweet Savior and remember who you are and WHOSE you are as you begin this 40 day journey.

Peace of the Lord...
