A Midsummer's Night...

I don't know about you all, but summer brings about some nostalgia in the biggest way! Today, our little family worked our tails off cleaning cars, cleaning out sheds, playing in water, yard sales, on and on! It was AWESOME! But being in the sun all day, windblown, and the senses to their fullest expanse, memories of years gone by and old and dear friends brings a yearning to be in their company again.

I was sharing with the children that when I was a girl, by family always went to the beach for 1 week during the summer. Myrtle Beach. I told them how I was yearning for one of those bygone days when you've spent the whole day on the beach. You go back to your airconditioned hotel room and take a nice shower, get all dressed up in your crisp cool clothing. You drive to a restraunt with the whole family, a restraunt near the ocean, where you smell shrimp and scallops and feel the humid warm breeze on the deck. I told the children, it's been 6 years since we were at the beach in the summer...we need to start praying for the Lord's provision for this! = ) Such sweet memories of fun times and relaxing conversations!

After sharing this tonight I started pining for conversations and special times. I've added just a FEW pictures of friends we MISS, by no means ALL of those we hold dear! You may recongnize some of them, and be meeting others for the first time.

Enjoy! And Enjoy this excellent Summer! Slow down, savor, and rejoice! What a tremendous gift we are given in all that the Lord has made!

"...with the sweetest affection." (1 Peter 1:22),
