WEDNESDAY LENTEN PONDERINGS

This past week we began a Family Lenten Devotional time during dinner.

Family Devotions for Lent
by Kimberlee Conway Ireton

I found this 40 day devotional as I googled online. She recommends doing it during a meal time and it is working very well for us.

We got purple candles to put in our candlesticks on the dining room table whose color represents "repentance".

Last night's devotion taught about Repentance...
"One of the things that many Christians do during Lent is repent. "Repent" means to turn around from doing wrong things and to go in a different direction - toward what is right. Let's think of one thing that each of us can repent of during Lent."

We went around the table and each of us shared an area of our life that we felt was lacking full devotion to the Lord...a weakness, a struggle, a desire, etc. I wanted to share Daniel's response.

Daniel said, "Mommy, I think the Lord would want me to do something. I think He would want me to spend more time with Him. I have not spent time with Him every day and that is important. So I am going to do this for Lent."

WOW!!! On his own he decides THIS is what Jesus would want from him! I just LOVE that BOY! = )

Where would you feel the Lord would have you repent this season...a time to ask for His forgiveness and begin to "Turn away from ___" and move in the RIGHT direction?

Cheryl,

Thanks for sharing this story! I'm so glad your family is using the Lenten devotions and finding them helpful. I pray they will continue to prompt blessed moments like this one.

Warmly,
Kimberlee

Hi Kimberlee!

LOVE the devotionals!

We haven't been able to do as many as we would like, but it is SUCH a blessing to have a simple, deep, engaging, devotional that the whole family can be a part of.

I LOVE your blog with your book reviews! I would LOVE to know your take on Harry Potter...what do you say? = )

I am looking for books for my Isabella...10 going on 40, who loves books on girl relationships...so hard to find GOOD Godly books on this theme in the Library without so much worldly influence. Would love your thoughts.

Thanks for visiting, Kimberlee!
Peace of the Lord,
Cheryl
